The Ball Sports Marketing team wanted to design a backpack specifically for their sponsored AVP players. The players would use these backpacks on tour, so it needed to be heavily branded to promote Wilson on tour and on television. The bag needed to hold a volleyball be able to withstand the elements such as UV rays, rain, and sand. Since the players also do quite a bit of traveling, I wanted the bags to be comfortable for domestic and international travel. Being a volleyball player, I was especially excited to work on this product!
The bag was designed to look sleek. Most professionals are tall, so the bag is longer than average and the width is just wide enough to comfortably hold a volleyball. The bottom compartment is separated, so you can move your wet items away from the dry ones. The compartment has an integrated sand trap for ventilation and sand removal so you don’t have to open the entire compartment. There are two exterior personal pockets for accessories, a thermally lined pocket to keep your drink cold, and a hidden pocket in the back mesh for a passport or anything else you’d like to keep out of reach. There’s also a zipper on the bottom of the bag, where a removable rain guard is stored for those wet practice or match days. The fabric is a PU similar to the women’s tennis bags. The material is water resistant, has a smooth hand feel, and has proven itself durable. The lining is a polyester and the shoulder pad mesh is extremely breathable and is quick drying.
The marketing team was very specific about utilizing Wilson Red for this backpack. They wanted the bag to be seen. I utilized our Wilson Red with black accents.
