The Wilson Tennis team and the Roland Garros team collaborated on the RG line, which is an annual line that is sold at the Roland Garros Tournament in Paris, France. The brief was to design a high and low end backpack, racket bag, and tote for the tournament. No extra performance qualities were needed, but the bag needed to look and feel premium. The consumer was tournament spectators who are affluent, tennis enthusiasts. Working within the Roland Garros and Wilson brand guidelines was a fun challenge.

Both the high and low end backpacks were similar in size and volume. Both could hold two rackets in the rear zip pocket, which allows the tennis racket handles to protrude from the side of the bag. On the high end backpack, there’s a fleece lined personal pocket on the front panel, two water bottle pockets on the exterior sides,  and internal accessory pockets. The racket bag can hold up to three rackets, as well as personal pockets on the interior and the exterior with a padded laptop sleeve in the main backpack compartment.

The bag colorways are burnt orange, navy, and white. The brand book provided Pantone colors, but I was able to choose an orange and blue that were more wearable for accessories than print and digital applications. The burnt orange reflects the color of the clay courts in Paris. White is always classy and premium. The three striped webbing created a pop of color on the monochromatic bags. The interior has a one color repeating print composed of the Roland Garros and Wilson logo for another premium touch.
